On April 7 at 4 pm, Music at Our Savior presents I Believe: Songs of Love, Faith, and Hope. The Adult and Youth Choirs of Our Savior will be joined by the Concert Choir of ChildrenSong, a choral music education and performance program based in Haddonfield, New Jersey that rehearses at Our Savior. The choirs will sing music focused on the themes of love, faith, and hope, all by living composers from the Americas.
The program will include large and small ensembles singing diverse choral selections in English, Hebrew, and Latin. All of the choirs will combine to sing two inspiring but different selections. Mark Miller’s I Believe is an inspirational setting of a poem written during World War II on the wall of a cellar by a Jew in the Cologne concentration camp. The program closes with a plea for peace in a setting of Agnus Dei by Imant Ramnish, a Canadian composer of Latvian descent.
The audience will be invited to sing along on several hymns and the program will be rounded out by reflections that will connect the music to contemporary themes and scenarios.
There is no charge for the concert. A free-will offering will go towards Bridge of Peace Lutheran Church, the Mission Partners for Our Savior. A reception with light refreshments will follow the performance. Come join us and experience a positive message through vocal music that will uplift your spirits!
