Worship With Us!

8am & 10:30am Traditional
9:15am Contemporary

One of my favorite hymns is “Draw Us In the Spirit’s Tether.” As you know, togetherness has taken on a new meaning in 2020. We now gather online or outside with a safe distance between us (or at least I hope you all are!). When I choose hymns now, I try to avoid hymns that mention the church as a building because, well, the building’s been empty for 5 months. But we still gather together, we just find new ways to do so. So instead of focusing on the how-it-used-to-be, the ways that we all miss, and ways to which we will return, let us focus on the present, imperfect as it may be. Let us rewrite the old ways for now, with hope and love in our hearts. We can still gather, we can still sing, we can still pray. We just do it in new ways.

We can always sing:

Draw us in the Spirit’s tether,
for when humbly in your name
two or three are met together,
you are in the midst of them.
Alleluia!

As we keep “gathering” this way for a while more, dear church, I hope you find joy and peace in being together and singing together in these times. We still gather, and the Holy Spirit (who doesn’t need to observe social distancing rules) is still with us and in us.

Be on the lookout for opportunities to sing and ring together in these new ways!

Draw us in the Spirit’s tether,
over Faceboook Live, or text, or Zoom
we can still worship and be together,
as God is with us in every room.
Alleluia!
