The Adult Bible Discussion for Daily Life will begin a new discussion on the Gospel of Luke beginning the week of October 29. The Gospel of Luke is the predominant Gospel read on Sundays in Year C of the three-year Revised Common Lectionary heard in worship on Sundays and the new year begins on the First Sunday of Advent, Dec 2. It is also the gospel that has some of the most memorable parables Jesus ever told!
Even if you can only make one discussion your understanding of how Luke’s Gospel is applicable to daily life will be enhanced. It will also provide you with a great overview of the Gospel readings you will hear over the next year.
The tentative schedule and topics are:
Oct 29/31: Birth of Jesus Luke 2:1-20
Nov 5/7: Levi; Wineskins Luke 5:27-39
Nov 12/14: Good Samaritan Luke 10:25-37
Nov 19/21: Prodigal Son Luke 15:11-16:18
Nov 26/28: Last Supper Luke 22:7-34
Dec 3/5: Jesus’ Death Luke 23:44-49
Dec 17/19: Road to Emmaus Luke 24:13-35
Attend either Mondays from 7:30-9:00 in Room 112 or Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 at the home of Linda Powell (603 Crystal Lake Avenue in Haddon Township). No prior attendance is required to gain insight and value from the discussion. Just drop on in. Bibles are available if you don’t have one. See you in November.
