We give great thanks to Don Miano who graciously donated the flag that draped his father’s casket to be hung on the Memorial Garden flagpole over the last year.
On Saturday, November 11, Veteran’s Day, Pastor Wayne will lead a brief ceremony where the current flag will be retired and a new flag donated by retired West Point graduate Paul Franke will be flown. The retired flag will be returned to the original donor or turned over to the American Legion Post 38 in Haddonfield for proper disposal. The Legion’s current president is our own Jon Batchelor and the Legion’s American flag disposal receptacle and ceremony were an Eagle Scout project completed by Jonathan Baxter, also a member of Our Savior.
If you would like to donate a flag for future years it should be at least 3’x5’ or 4’x6’ in dimension for our 20-foot pole. We look forward to this being an annual event to honor our veterans as well as retire and replace our Memorial Garden flag.
