Summer time, and the living is easy. This year especially with the relaxation of Covid restrictions, many of us are looking forward to resuming our usual summer activities and past-times, and putting aside demands on our schedules and resources. Travel, family events and Sunday activities draw us away from regular worship attendance and maybe from keeping up with our giving. However, just like the expenses at your house, the bills still arrive in the church office in July and August, and the commitments Our Savior has made to help our neighbors in need don’t take a vacation. As you enjoy your summer, please remember how your gifts to LCOS matter.
Also, this year Congregational Resources has been presenting many ways that God’s people can reach out on their own beyond their gifts directly to Our Savior. We’ve tried to answer these questions: How is God calling us to love our neighbor? How is God calling us to share the abundance He has entrusted to us? How is He calling us to be stewards of His justice? Summer is traditionally when many charities and helping groups see a big demand on their services, but a drop in their income. Please continue reaching out to help these groups and the vulnerable communities they serve. Please continue reaching out with God’s love.
