Sometimes to know where to go you need to know where you’ve been. In 2017, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior will celebrate 90 years of ministry, and our past is a good signpost for where we should go.
In this booklet you will find the stories of members of the congregation. Their stories help to tell the story of ELCOS. The congregation celebrated its first worship service on August 28, 1927, in a storefront at 417 Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield, which is now next to Tony’s Pizzeria. A 100’x125’ lot at the corner of Wood Lane and Wayne Avenue, the current site of the church, was purchased for $5,800, and the ground breaking service was held November 6, 1927.
We hope in this year of celebration to inspire each other to continue our 90-year legacy of worshipping our Lord, serving our neighbors, and giving ourselves, our time, and our possessions.
