Sunday School

Rally Sunday date is still to be determined. We are looking to see if we will be able to have in person Sunday School starting in the fall. I will be sending an email out before Labor Day Weekend to let you all know what is going on.

Oasis & Acolytes

We will be continuing our weekly meetings through the month of July. I will not be leading meetings for the month of August because I will be taking the month off to spend some quality time with my husband and my son. Kim Warren or Sidney Speas will be in contact with you if we are having meetings during August.

It breaks my heart to say that we will not be having acolytes this summer due to the number restrictions for indoor worship. I will be keeping you posted on how it will work in the fall. I miss all of you and can-not wait to see you and to train our incoming 7th graders.

VBS: Who is my neighbor?

This is not just the theme of our Vacation Bible School this year, but this should be a question we should be asking each other so much more in our current times. We need to see that our neighbors are people who do not look like us, who may not have the same political beliefs as us, or may not be a Lutheran. But we need to remember that we are all neighbors in our communities, in our state and in our country. During July 27-31 children from the ages 3 to entering 6th grade will be able to learn about being a neighbor. Each day I will be sending out an email with a Bible story, different songs to sing as a family, and a project you can do as a family to help us remember “who is your neighbor”. Like I said in a previous messenger article: If you are on the fence on how you can be someone’s neighbor, you can always think back to the Mr. Roger’s theme song, “So, let’s make the most of this beautiful day. Since we’re together we might as well say: Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbor? Won’t you please, Won’t you please? Please won’t you be my neighbor?”

The program is free this year, you will just need to buy the supplies that are needed to make a craft. I need to know by July 20th if you are interested, so you can have the list and time to order the supplies. Invite your neighbors to do this program with you, while practicing social distancing. My goal this year is to make our VBS the biggest it has even been, so we can make a GREAT impact on our community. Please email me to let me know if you are attending or if you have any questions.
