St. Francis of Assisi has long been associated with being the patron saint of animals whose commemoration as a renewer of the church is observed on October 4. As a way of remembering this Saint of the Church and our calling by God to care for creation and its creatures The Lutheran Church of Our Savior will hold a Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, October 6, beginning at 5:30pm in and around the Memorial Garden area.
Members, friends, and neighbors are invited to bring their pets for a blessing service that will include prayer, readings, singing, and a blessing of the animals by Pastor Wayne Zschech for those who bring their pets to the service. Please have your pets either on a leash, crated, caged, or in a bowl for the blessing. Be sure to let your neighbors know as well as your friends as this is open to the public just as are all our worship services.
