Caring for God’s Creation – Recycling Project at LCOS
To help celebrate Earth Day 2023, LCOS continued a church-wide effort to recycle by strategically placing green recycle bins throughout the church. The Recycle Team worked with church members who are responsible for specific areas such as Ushers, Altar Guild, Sunday School, Library, Mustard Seed and the Parish Administrator. The Team consulted with the Property Chair and the Custodian for bin placement and utilization. Word was spread through the monthly newsletter, Sunday Bulletin and announcements by the Pastor. Recycling was added to our User Agreement so that all individuals utilizing the church abide by the Camden County Recycle Guidelines.
More recycling means less garbage in our landfills and incinerator plants. By re-using aluminum, paper, plastic and glass, we will save production energy costs and reduce negative effects on the environment from extracting and processing virgin materials. Recycling is just one way in which we care for God’s creation.
Earth Day Celebration
Earth Day reminds us of our responsibility as Christians to be stewards of God’s creation.
LCOS celebrated Earth Day 2023 through a month long interactive display in the Narthex where recyclable items and ideas were exchanged. The Recycle Team working with congregation members rolled out a church wide recycle program following the Camden County recycling guidelines, placing green recycle bins to meet the needs of that area/room in each area/room of the church.
