The LCOS book group will meet next on September 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room to discuss Colm Toibin’s novel, Brooklyn, which has been made into a movie, starring Saoirse Ronan. Brooklyn tells the story of a young woman in the 1950’s who makes the journey across the ocean from Ireland to America as many Irish women have done in the past in the attempt to make a better life for herself. It is a simple coming-of-age tale of a young woman as she enters the adult world while navigating a life abroad. Enjoy the summer reading, and if you find a good book for the group to read, bring the title with you in September.
