Altar Flower – Yellow Rose. Recently, we had one appear on the Altar. What is it? It represents a memorial gift given to the Lou Dunkle Endowment Fund honoring an anniversary, birthday or special event of a loved one. Similar to how Altar flowers work but the donation will go into the Endowment Fund to support the future work of the church. The Lou Dunkle Endowment Fund continues to need contributions for its mission to continue and grow. In the establishment of the Endowment Fund, it was the intention of the congregation to provide a means, over and above provisions made in the general operating budget, of fostering local outreach, furthering denominational and ecumenical causes, and addressing special ministries and other purposes such as: Capital expenditures, Grants, Scholarships, Mission development and Outreach. Do you want to leave a legacy of faithful stewardship to your Church for future generations? The Lou Dunkle Endowment Fund provides members with a vehicle to make contributions to the Fund knowing that the money will be invested and the earnings from those investments will be used to support the future work of the church. The Yellow Rose provides a way to contribute to the Fund while honoring a loved one. Hopefully, you will take advantage of this opportunity. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see a bouquet of Yellow Roses.

In addition, below are updates on two Urban Promise Scholarship Recipients:

Janaisa is currently a sophomore at Eastern University. She is majoring in nursing. Janasia joined the Student Activities Board and is a member of the marketing team. One of her other extracurricular activities is being a valued member of the cheer dance team. Janasia has been a part of competitive cheer teams since she was in 2nd grade. Janais has said, “ I am so grateful for the church and all the people who give to the Ambassadors of Hope Scholarship. Without it, what would I do? How could I afford to be in college?”

Dajah is a senior at Stockton University and is preparing for graduation in the spring. She is majoring in health science with a concentration in communication disorders. Her plan is to attend Howard University for grad school and become a speech pathologist. Dajah has been working as an UrbanPromise StreetLeader for 7 years and for the last 3 as a field supervisor. She is an outstanding student and an outstanding leader. Dajah is grateful for the scholarship that we provide. “Please tell the church that I’ve had some financial difficulties and because of their scholarship, I have been able to stay in school. It is a real gift to me and my family.”
