At Our Savior’s Congregational Annual Meeting in January we approved the establishment of a Kindergarten Extended Day program (KED) during the school year and a Summer Camp for K-Grade 5 children. Mustard Seed Community Childcare at Our Savior was sown, and since then it has germinated and is growing quite well.

Colleen Gross has written a business plan and we are now officially a non-profit organization with 501(c3) certification. Now that we have that certification, we are planning fundraisers to bring attention to our program and bring in funds to help cover the start up costs. We hope to soon have Dine and Donate nights at local restaurants – more information will be forthcoming.

We have many lawn signs still available. If you would be able to post a sign in your yard, they are available at the church – pick up or delivery. The signs for KED and Summer Camp are for Haddonfield only. Summer Camp signs are for nearby towns. Please help us to get the word out.

At this time, we have 15 children registered for the Kindergarten Extended Day program in the fall. There has been much interest in Summer Camp and several registrations have been sent out.

We are looking forward to an exciting year as our program grows.

April 2021

Dear Lutheran Church of Our Savior Member,

We are excited to share news of the opening of the Mustard Seed Community Childcare at Our Savior. In August 2020 Haddonfield Child Care announced that it would be closing its doors. This reality became a hardship to many families in Haddonfield needing reliable and meaningful childcare. Pastor Wayne and the congregation of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior saw the necessity of continuing this important ministry of the Kindergarten Extended Day Program along with adding a summer childcare component. After months of brainstorming, planning and developing, the Mustard Seed Community Childcare at Our Savior has germinated and is now an official NJ 501(c) 3 business. Additionally, the Mustard Seed CCOS Board of Trustees is excited and honored to have Donna Marie Clancy continue in her role as the Executive Director as she did for HCC.

The Mission of Mustard Seed CCOS is “Providing a safe, creative, and nurturing community for children to explore and expand in heart and mind, body and soul”. The Kindergarten Extended Day Program is planned to open in September 2021 for the children in the Haddonfield School District. We are hoping to begin a Summer Camp in June 2021 for children entering grades Kindergarten through 5th this fall. It is our hope to continue the great legacy that Haddonfield Child Care has left in our community and provide a vital service needed in our community with the creation of Mustard Seed CCOS.

Even though the physical resources from Haddonfield Child Care are able to be donated to Mustard Seed Community Childcare, there is still a need for a sizeable budget of start-up costs associated with establishing this new program. The congregation of Our Savior has generously provided $10,000 toward these costs which have been used for legal fees and office organizational tools. We are reaching out to local businesses and interested community members to be a part of this “resurrected” childcare ministry by becoming a Founding Sponsor or Friend of MSCCOS .

There are four different levels and all Founding Sponsor contributors would have their names included on a plaque up on the third floor, would be listed in our MSCCOS information brochure, and would be featured on the MSCCOS website as a way to say “thank you” and provide some additional advertising for your business. The levels of support include:

  • YELLOW MUSTARD: $100 Contribution
  • HONEY MUSTARD: $250 Contribution
  • SPICY BROWN MUSTARD: $500 Contribution
  • DIJON MUSTARD: $1,000 Contribution

Of course, any contribution toward the establishment of MSCCOS will be greatly appreciated and recognized. Friends will be designated for any contribution under $100 and listed on the webpage and in promotional materials as a way to say “thank you” for your kindness and generosity. All contributions are tax deductible and a letter of recognition will be provided upon receipt of your gift. Please make checks payable to MSCCOS and mail them to the address below. If you would like additional information please contact us at director@mustardseedccos.org and visit our website at www.mustardseedccos.org.

Thank you for your consideration and support of Mustard Seed Community Childcare at Our Savior. We look forward to your partnership.
