June marks a yearly turning point in church activities. The Easter season ends, and the green paraments of Pentecost decorate the church. The congregation welcomes newly minted confirmands. The 2023-24 program year’s activities and events wind down. The choir takes a well-deserved break. Christian Education volunteers pivot from Sunday School to Vacation Bible Camp. And we all take a deep breath and prepare for vacation.
June is also traditionally the month of thinking about how we will give our time and talents to furthering the Lord’s work in the next program year, starting in September. We do the Time and Talent Campaign here at Our Savior every other June, so this year there’s no response form. However, before we go totally into vacation mode, it’s still a good time to consider how you can willingly give your time and talent next year. Consider the list of activities and events above and think about the volunteer time it all took. Ask yourself what you can offer and what the Holy Spirit has prepared you to do. Pleasecon- tact the church office or consult the list of committee and ministry leaders at the back of this newsletter about how you can be more involved in the coming year.
Vacations take a bit of planning. While you’re mapping your route, stopping your mail and finding someone to take care of the family pet, please don’t forget to keep your church giving up to date too. Giving willingly throughout the summer will help Our Savior meet our goal of being able to give more than the 5% we pledged to the ELCA’S NJ Synod Mission Sup- port. Help us grow that percentage so that we’re back up to the 10% that the Haddonfield Lutheran Church of Our Savior has always offered. Thank you!

Paul wrote,“…their abundant joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For as I can testify, they voluntarily gave according to their means, and even beyond their means, begging us earnestly for the privilege of sharing in this ministry…”
